I am Dawn Thomas, and here's a little bit of my background. In 2008, I retired after a 41 year career as a Missouri High School art teacher. I have pursued my passion for watermedia painting ever since.

My inspiration comes as close as my backyard flowers to far away places! I look for color, strong areas of light and shadow in subjects that resonate with me. I particularly love the Taos area and Southwest...pottery markets, landscapes and the quality of light!

Studying with many Masters of watercolor adds to my understanding and technique. I constantly evolve.

My work has won awards in local and state shows and has been chosen for exhibition in National shows as well. I am a member of the following State Watercolor Associations: MO/KS/AL/KY/TX/NM/IL/PA/LA/Red River WS (WI & ND)

Locally in Kansas City, I display my work as a member of ArtsKC, which affords me the opportunity to display work at major corporations in the area. I am a member of three local artist groups: Raytown, Lee's Summit and Images Gallery in Overland Park, KS.
